about

I'm pretty fond of the remix efforts I've put out throughout the years, whenever original artist approved or not, although my skills have advanced (I think). So why not take another shot at remixing some tunes?

These tracks grew out of an Ableton Live session I created where I threw together some versions of past tracks I made for a potential extended live set (if I attempt this again, it'll most likely be different for real gigs). Good lessons were learned from this approach, so I eventually finished these tracks for people to enjoy.

Back in 2020, I did a whole remix EP of the Lyon Beckers Lo Fi release "Home By The Sea" which got a huge thumbs up from the guy himself. Another "live" version of this track appeared on the Cone IRL sort of live album that I had made as a student project, so this version of Wanderlust splits the difference between my first attempt at a remix and that IRL live version. There's even more of a spring in this remix's step because years have passed since the pandemic struck down the world and since then people have moved on from mask wearing and all that.

The sinistrailAB air second pass, as with the previous track, splits the difference between the first remix attempt and the Cone IRL version. This one mostly sticks to the same guiding principle of taking elements from Autechre's NTS Sessions tracks and inserting them into a more streamlined dancefloor friendly format, except this time further glitchy elements are added to the Bass music/Dubstep pulse. It also lasts 2 more minutes than the 2020 version for more vaguely satirical remix action. When the cowbells hit once more, that's when the OGs know to stand up.

Daft Punk might have split up, but their music is still as popular as ever. While they're in the middle of retrospection mode with various rereleases of their albums filled with extra bonuses, it's only fitting that I also look back on the past remix work I did of their "Technologic" track. This time, I had more than just the acapella to work with thanks to some internet sleuthing, therefore making this version less of a Cone original with the vocals slapped on and more of a direct remix. A few hints of the TB-3 experimenting are still kept in here to remind my of the 2021 version however.

Perhaps I'll make another volume of this format soon, but for now enjoy these three reworks.
