Metaspace is the digital remains of a virtual world gone wrong, left to languish in obscurity. The result of a failed investment by the richest billionaires on the planet, it was an idea inspired a few dozen movies - movies which explicitly asked them not to create a dystopian digital space filled with advertisements, bland aesthetics and a lack of moderation causing some of the world's worse people to latch onto the platform. And yes, NFTs were the main currency here, cutting into the IRL environment and corrupting other Electronic Music Producers just for the sake of making a living.

Overtime, it eventually grew and mutated into something much weirder, since no outside corporate forces were left guiding it. Now, it exists as a blatant Matrix ripoff and collection of bizarre images, inhabited by strange wildlife and God like beings who shape the world on a whim. Thanks evil rich people.

We travelled throughout this abandoned landscape for about a year and managed to capture some of the fascinating sounds from the place, of course.

The Digital Waters of the Metaspace are pretty hazardous, and can sweep away unsuspecting travellers. Only the most powerful of virtual submarines can withstand the crushing depths, but even then you still have to look out for the colour inverted sharks. The sounds were miraculously captured from this place and then turned into what I call "Digital Underwater Techno" - artificial yet alive at the same time. You could play this in a nightclub if you wanted but home listening is required for taking in those deep sounds.

The Cone Lad adopted an Electro Cone avatar resembling one of the more notorious rich figureheads on the planet Earth as a means to blend into the landscapes of Metaspace. This does not mean he lost any of his groove on our travels however - his digitalised traffic cone gave us a new sonic palette to work with. This resulted in some fine digital traffic cone electro which has been documented here.

Don't forget, this place does have its instability issues. Indeed, we had to get frantically moving often due to the fact that Metaspace is about as easy to navigate as the average video game level ruined by a Vinesauce Vinny corruption stream. It requires guts to even record the moments of, well Chaos. But we did and what we have here is something that probably wouldn't sound out of place in a DJ Stingray set or Galaxian EP. It's very industrial tinged, and has the vibes of abandoned virtual factories we saw.

This track is a sore spot for the both of us. The Metaspace has an annoying tendency for Data Erasure in times of chaos, so we have the initial recording of some Metaspace sounds and the finished product, but the final track stems were lost due to interference from exploring an abandoned building reclaimed by digital nature. The track we managed to make reflects the parts of this virtual world which look a lot like space, leaning into that sci fi edge a little. A bonus track of the Data Erasure session recording is included for aspiring producers to recreate this track, if you want to.

Regardless of any lore, you can listen to and enjoy this music without any problems.
