The Cone Project is made up of me, Cone Mann, and the mascot known as the Cone Lad. Our goals are to make weird but funky music for people to dance/scratch their heads to. We hope people enjoy the tunes.

One day, I hit upon a bright idea: make an EP where the point is to make a few tracks where only one sample was the basis for each of them. The idea was to somehow derive different elements, such as percussion and synth sounds, from these samples using a variety of effects and other music making techniques in Ableton Live. Somehow, I managed to achieve this goal.

One Sample 1 (featured on the NTS Cong Burn kk_junker Discord Takeover show, which can be listed to here at 39 minutes in www.nts.live/shows/perfume-advert/episodes/cong-burn-7-march-2021) is one of 2 tracks on the EP that uses a recording of a TB-3 Touch Baseline. The track is best described as Electro influenced Braindance with rubbery textures and a powerful baseline. One Sample 2, the other TB-3 sample derived track, goes for a “slow burn” direction, having glitchy textures layered with excessive delay. Finally, One Sample 3, aka “Cone Musique 2”, is a direct musical collaboration with the Cone Lad himself. This track, derived from a hit of the traffic cone on top of his head, was taken and turned into a remake of last year’s “Cone Musique”, if that wasn’t made clear enough. This time however, the characteristics are more surreal, more abstract etc. Expect the Cone Lad to start directly showing up on further music I create in the future.
